Terms of Service

📝 By downloading or using Minute, you agree to these Terms. Please read them — they're written to be clear, not buried in legalese.

1. About Minute

Minute is a privacy-first voice note and transcription application for iOS and macOS, developed by Ryan McDonough ("we", "us", or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Minute app and any associated website or services.

By downloading, installing, or using Minute, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Minute. By using the app, you confirm that you are 13 or older. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have the consent of a parent or guardian.

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use Minute on devices you own or control, solely for your personal or professional use.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

Minute offers a free tier and optional Pro subscription. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and are subject to Apple's payment terms.

Subscription renewal: Pro subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in iOS Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.

Refunds: All refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policy. We do not process refunds directly.

Price changes: We reserve the right to change subscription prices. You will be notified of any change before it takes effect, and your continued subscription after the change constitutes acceptance of the new price.

5. Your Content

You retain full ownership of all recordings, transcripts, notes, and other content you create using Minute. Because all data is stored locally on your device, we do not access, use, or claim any rights over your content.

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Minute complies with applicable laws, including laws relating to recording conversations. In many jurisdictions, you must obtain consent from all parties before recording a conversation. It is your responsibility to understand and comply with the consent requirements in your location.

Minute includes AI-powered features including transcription, summarisation, and Speech Pattern Markers. These features are tools to assist you and are not infallible. In particular:

You agree to use AI-generated outputs responsibly and not to rely on them as a substitute for professional legal, medical, or other advice.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

Minute is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that transcriptions will be accurate.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Minute, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the app shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £50 (whichever is greater).

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Minute at any time if you breach these Terms. You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it from your device.

Upon termination, all licences granted to you under these Terms immediately cease. Because your data is stored locally, it remains on your device until you delete it.

11. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and may notify you within the app. Continued use of Minute following any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
